Eagles Youth Club was founded by Vernon Abel David in 1997 with a group of passionate young people wanting to change the world. The focus of Eagles Youth Club is to help young people fulfil their potential and become the best that society has to offer in an effort to change our communities for the better. We are a group of young people who are dedicated to seeing young people’s lives change! We are highly passionate about Christ and changing the world!
Youth ministry to me is about showing the young person Jesus love. Its about letting the young person know that you care, and that you will do whatever it takes to be a Jesus role model. I believe that the young person that is saved and knows Jesus as his personal Saviour should take the responsibility to stand in the gap for his unsaved friend. I believe the days of youth meeting being a recreational event is over.
It is a time for equipping. We are living in a day were deep calls out to deep and there are many young people who are interested in the deep things of God. We have underestimated the teenager. Youth groups whose focus is on what the social is going to be at a youth meeting are definitely walking in error and will fail to produce teenagers that are strong in their faith. There is no better place than a youth meeting to create an appetite for the things of God within a young person. Youth groups must be wary what type of appetites they are creating within the young person.
You see I know what type of appetite Hollywood is creating and I know what appetite our universities and schools are creating I can even tell you what appetite our politicians want to create however as I travel around and I observe the youth ministries in many churches I come to a realization that not many youth leaders actually understand the gravity of their calling and they are not creating an appetite for the things of God in the lives of the young people God has entrusted them with. It is my desire to see every youth leader trained and fully equipped to do the work God has called him/her to do. Our destiny is registered in heaven and our purpose is to finish the work God has given.
This is the reason why we at Eagles Youth Club believe that there is no time better than the present to fulfil our high commission a mandate that has been given to us by the King of Kings and that is to equip young people with tools to be effective in their churches and their communities. We at Eagles Youth Club are dedicated with a passion to see young people grow closer to God and know their purpose in life.
Jeshurun Subramani - Youth Pastor
When I see society today and the effects young people have on it, I am convinced that young people have the power to change the world. We have the power to change, not only society, but also ourselves and those around us. When young people make their feelings vocal, people listen.
But I also see the need for love in this world. There is too much war and struggle and hurt. We are unconsciously creating a generation that is just as hurt and divided as the generations before through the negative media, and influences that we allow the young people to be exposed to.
Young people have the ability to change that completely but need to do so in love. And for that to happen, young people need to be loved.
Youth ministry, in my opinion, is exactly that: a means of showing young people the love of Jesus.
Young people are looking for love, not just a good time of fellowship once a week.
It is time to start training the future leaders in love and compassion. Those are the greatest tools you can ever equip them with to fix a broken world.
We have witnessed the ability of teenagers and students who take hold of the power to change communities, cities, and countries, and force the world to take notice, such as the events in Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Brazil, amongst various other countries including in our home, South Africa, on June 16, 1976.
That is why we believe that now is the time for love to preside in our world. That is why we believe that it is time for the hearts of the generations to be turned to one other.
We want to help create a culture of love in a loveless society. We want to build a lasting legacy of love for those who will carry on this mission that God has ordained for Eagles Youth Club.
We at Eagles Youth Club are passionate about showing young people the love of Jesus and bringing them closer to Him and his plan for their lives.
1997 the defining year of my life. I had everything going for me, was about to finish my secondary education, had a great social life, loving family, and the worlds opportunity awaited. I was far from looking for Jesus, I was happy where I was. My pastor suggested that I attend a youth camp hosted by Eagles Youth Club. I thought it will be a good time to make my parents happy and meet some girls at the same time.
What I saw over that weekend changed me for ever. For the first time, I saw a bunch of young people, unashamed of their God. No gimmicks, no pretend, no false pretence. Yes they weren't perfect but they knew Daddy loved them just where they were. That shook me, and I began to question my existence and the mask that hid the true me. I wanted to know this God that loves beyond my faults, that real young people can just ball their eyes out for, in love, and never be ashamed of Him. I wanted to love and be loved in the way they loved each other and their God. So began my love affair with Jesus through Eagles Youth club.
Seventeen years later, I am still crazy about Him and young people. Through Eagles, I got to travel to every province in South Africa, changing youth culture, introducing thousands of people to the real nature of God and have the most fun and incredible time doing it. Eagles is, and will always be, a huge part of me. If more people show true love, Jesus will show up, just like He did everywhere we went.

Leadership occurs in moments of challenge and not of ease. I joined Eagles Youth Club and became a leader in the year 2001, as I believed it was a youth club confronting a mammoth challenge in our country and amongst our young people who seemed to have lost their vision and hope, as the communities they lived in were filled with poverty, lack of education, sexual, and drug/alcohol abuse.
Over the years, being a part of a dynamic leadership team whose aim was to empower, mentor and develop young people from these communities was an incredible journey. Adversity breeds opportunity- that’s what we believed, so despite the challenges, as much as I gave, I received even more. What an awesome privilege it has been for me to see young people’s lives transform for the better and younger leaders emerge. As a leader, my life has been enriched, blessed and my vision expanded.
In 2005 I started ‘Media Link’, a media and communications consultancy, which continues to grow. As I journey on, I believe Eagles Youth Club has set the platform for me to soar beyond any limitations, there are no boundaries and the sky is no limit. I have no doubt that ordinary people can do extraordinary things and that we can indeed change the world, one young person at a time!

The Eagles Youth Center Project
Update: We have the designs for the Youth Center!
At the inception of Eagles Youth Club one of the primary goals set, was to establish a multi-faceted youth center that would cater for the needs of the young people in the community but would also have a global impact on youth affairs.
A center that caters for the entire individual ie on a social, emotional and spiritual level, one that would provide a safe non-threatening, alcohol free environment for young people to interact, learn and grow.
These are some of the facilities that will be available:
• Indoor sporting and recreational facilities such as soccer, cricket, tennis, basketball, table tennis, volleyball etc.
• Vocational guidance and counseling
• Life Skills development and empowerment
• Spiritual guidance.
